In May 2012 the Tajik American Cultural Association (TACA) was founded by Tajikistani local volunteers Vladimir Fedorenko, Anvar Samadzoda, Akobir Akhmedov, and Faridun Nazarov in Fairfax, Virginia as a non-profit, non-governmental, cultural, professional and educational organization.
The mission of TACA is to promote facilitate intercultural understanding and cooperation by organizing educational and cultural programs that focus on issues concerning the Tajik American community. In addition, TACA strives to address the needs of the Tajik community in America.
TACA believes that building cultural bridges among Tajik and American communities is needed and aims to promote further integration, encourage cooperation, and establish close relations with other US communities. Since it's independence, the Republic of Tajikistan has sought greater cooperation and stronger ties with the United States have attracted a great number of Tajik people to come and take advantage of the land of opportunities, by getting a high-quality education or starting new business ventures. In light of such interaction, TACA was established to promote cooperation and integration within the Tajik community and foster intercultural interaction with other communities in the USA.
TACA's primary goal is to address the needs and demands of the Tajik community, promote further integration, encourage cooperation, and establish close relations with other communities living in the United States.
TACA is aware of the multiethnic and multicultural composition of Tajikistan and its surrounding region and perceives the concept of Tajik identity as a civic (Tajikistani) and pluralistic one that welcomes everybody, regardless of ethnicity, race, religion, or any other affiliation, who is interested in Tajikistan and the Tajik culture.
TACA aims to become an outlet that represents the rich culture of Tajikistan and hospitality of the Tajik people. TACA believes that building cultural bridges among Tajik and American communities is highly needed. This cooperation will produce a tremendous outcome in enhancing mutual understanding and creating fruitful cooperation.
